OSF Digital's UXpert - Product-level Reviews

Welcome to OSF Digital's UXpert, our regular look at UX that could improve your website for users and ultimately deliver increased conversion rates. This week, we're looking at product-level reviews.

What's the problem?

Is it worth investing the time and money it takes to implement and run a product-level customer review platform and how should you display it on your storefront if so?

What's the solution?

If you're going to have product-level reviews on your site, it makes sense to show them prominently. We've implemented this successfully for our clients in the following places:

  • PLP – review star ratings under product thumbnails to help users compare products at this point in the journey
  • PDP – review star ratings at the top near the product name, clickable to scroll users to detailed reviews further down the page
  • In carousels, e.g. You May Also Like, Recommended etc to encourage click-throughs and so that they appear on lots of pages including home, category, basket etc

What could the benefit be?

Salesforce data gathered from across clients on their Commerce Cloud platform showed that 63% of users were more likely to purchase products that were supported by customer reviews.
